Intake Coordinator (Part-Time) 

Clinical Responsibilities 

  • Conduct brief clinical assessment (by phone) for all prospective patients interested in psychotherapy or psychiatry at MBC  

  • Determine patient suitability for clinical services at MBC from initial clinical screening (including referral in/out, or if further information is necessary to proceed) 

  • Responsible for returning calls and emails in a timely manner (ideally patient contact within 24 hours of their call or email) 

  • Referral to appropriate clinician for patients deemed suitable for MBC  

  • Conduct crisis intervention and facilitate appropriate referral in the event of clinical emergency during triage call 
     

Administrative and Records Responsibilities

  • Lead intake team consisting of clinicians and administrative staff, and delegate tasks as needed 

  • Management of project in project management software, and regular review of outstanding tasks 

  • Maintain proper documentation for all patient intake contacts 

  • Regular attendance at staff meetings and consistent communication (emails and office chat) and understanding of MBC policies and procedures 

  • Maintain and develop list of active referral sources and community resources 

  • Arranging coverage for others who are cross trained on intake calls or Clinic Director when you are away.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in documentation and project management software (or willing to train) 

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills and ability to develop rapport quickly with prospective patients  

  • Clear leadership skills and willingness to coordinate and delegate tasks to intake team as needed. 

  • Interested in team building and engaging with wider clinical staff and comfortable working independently with an awareness of when to seek help  

  • Interest in building community referral network and database (current knowledge of community resources is preferred, but not required) 

Requirements

  • Ability to dedicate and schedule a minimum of 2-hour blocks at least 4 days per week 

 

Education

  • Master’s Level degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other mental health specialty (enrollment in a Master’s Degree program will be considered) 

 

Employment Details
 

This position can be structured one of two ways:

  • Standalone role of approximately 8-10 hours per week, or 

  • Combined role for a clinician providing direct services, where a portion of scheduled hours is designated to intake coordinator responsibilities. 
       

Job Type: W-2 under either structure 
Pay:  Determined based on experience and role structure

Clinical Psychotherapist 

The Mel Bornstein Clinic for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy is looking for Licensed Therapists for our Farmington Hills and Ann Arbor offices as well as teletherapy.  

Required Qualifications  

  • Licensed or Limited License to practice in the State of Michigan (must be in good standing with LARA)  

  • Previous experience providing psychotherapeutic services  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • The ability to establish and build therapeutic alliances  

  • Some knowledge of psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapies and interest in practicing from these modalities  

  • Technological experience necessary for navigating the electronic health record, secure email system and telehealth platform  

  • The ability to work both independently and as a part of a team  

Ideal Qualifications (not all must apply but preference will be given to candidates who meet one or more of the specialties below):  

  • Experience and interest in treating children and adolescents  

  • Experience with substance abuse disorder 

We are receiving many referrals and will work to grow your caseload to the level you desire, with the patient population you desire. We provide weekly one-on-one supervision with a graduate analyst of the Michigan Psychoanalytic institute at NO COST to the therapist. A minimum commitment of 10 hours a week is required, but more hours are encouraged and available.  

This position is ideal for those clinicians who are interested in practicing psychodynamic or psychoanalytic therapy and who are looking to join a collaborative team of therapists at a clinic that provides ongoing training and strong clinical support.   

Job type: W-2, full or part-time
